A Man Worth Shaving For by Michelle Pennington was laugh-out-loud funny while still having tender moments and lots of tense situations.
My Review of A Man Worth Shaving For
Table of Contents
Let me start my review with a disclaimer: this book is not Christian fiction, it’s a romantic comedy that falls in the clean and sweet category. That being said, you’ll find A Man Worth Shaving For to be a squeaky clean read. It’s not overly sexual while the characters are convincingly attracted to each other.
The Characters in A Man Worth Shaving For
Logan was such a great male character. He was driven, good at his job, but passionate about pursuing Tessa who was the one woman he shouldn’t want. I like the way that he pursued her and the way he wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable without coming across as effeminate.
Tessa was such a fun character! She was funny, smart, and bluntly honest. I liked the way she wasn’t a perfect size 6 (or whatever the perfect size is supposed to be).
She was aware that she didn’t fit into the conventional mold but she wasn’t worrying herself sick about it. Most of the time, she had a positive body image and accepted her curves.
Together, Tessa and Logan were a potent combination and a lot of their chemistry was because of what they hadn’t been able to say.
The Themes in A Man Worth Shaving For
Tessa was a curvy girl who had to deal with some snark because of her size. There was a subtle theme that a woman doesn’t have to be a certain size to be considered beautiful or desirable. There was also a reminder that it’s important to connect with your inner person.
The world will tell you all kinds of things and give you reasons to hate yourself but you need to remember (and remind yourself who you are). While this was a clean read it wasn’t a Christian but I couldn’t help thinking that we need to remember Whose we are so we don’t fall for the lies of the enemy.
The enemy likes to tell us lies about ourselves because Tessa wasn’t the only woman who needed to be reminded of her inner beauty. Regardless of body size, insecurities abound and we have to remember that we’re more than how we look or how much we weigh when we step on a scale. Get your copy of A Man Worth Shaving For.

Our goodnight kiss should have been goodbye.
We meant it to be.
But Monday morning there was Logan Jennings, in my office, deciding the fate of the company I love…and my job.
I never should have said the things I said or let myself feel the things I felt because connections like this don’t just go away. Even when you desperately need them to.
In two weeks, he’ll be gone, and nothing will ever be the same.
