Quote from A Run at Love, Toni Shiloh

A Run at Love Review

A Run at Love, by Toni Shiloh, is book two in the Love in the Spotlight series.

When Piper buys a racehorse, her best friend Tuck agrees to train it for the Kentucky Derby.  Does he have a personal agenda?

Yup, but it’s so cute you’ll forgive him.

Tuck has a plan for making Piper fall in love with him, and it all starts with winning the Derby. The question is, will Tuck’s checklist cause him to miss out on reaching for the love of his life?

As someone who loves a plan and a good checklist, I related to Tuck. I also loved the way Tuck looked out for Piper and supported her when she needed help.

Piper was an interracial adoptee who spent her life feeling like she didn’t fit in. Ms. Shiloh did an excellent job peeling back the layers of the various persons in Piper’s life and revealing how the diversity (or lack thereof) affected them.

I especially enjoyed the way Ms. Shiloh emphasized the truth that love doesn’t see color. Piper was surrounded by people who loved her, regardless of the color of her skin or theirs.

Piper and Tuck were a cute couple, and after reading The Love Script, I was glad these two got their happy ending.

Readers of A Run at Love will be reminded that we all make mistakes and desire forgiveness. True repentance comes from the heart, and sometimes forgiveness requires a lot of effort.

A Run at Love will also remind readers that too much planning sometimes removes God from the equation. This happens if we become so focused on having things work out according to our plan and in our timing that we disregard God’s sovereignty in our lives.

A Run at Love is a sweet friends-to-lovers romance that will tug at your heartstrings.
