Abigail, Jill Eileen Smith

Abigail Review

Abigail by Jill Eileen Smith gives us an interesting look at what life may have been like for Abigail. First as Nabal’s wife, then as David’s.

I appreciated this look at what life may have been like for David and those who followed him in the years he was on the run from Saul.

I’m not sure how I feel about Abigail’s character, or maybe it was David’s multiple wives I had an issue with but it was really hard for me to see this book as a romance. Though, Ms. Smith did a commendable job of showing David’s affection for her along with slices of their marriage.

If you are looking to get a more in-depth understanding of what it may have been like for the women who lived in the cave with David and his men, you should give Abigail a read.

Readers will be reminded that the promises of God will be fulfilled though it may not happen in the timing we hope. Our job is to hold on to hope and keep walking in the identity God has bestowed on us.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed Callie Beaulieu’s performance.
