Melissa Tagg’s Autumn by the Sea begins a new series set in Muir Harbor.
My Review of Autumn by the Sea
Table of Contents
When Sydney gets an invitation to spend time in Muir Harbor with the woman who might be her grandmother, she thinks it’s a long shot but she decides to go anyway. What she didn’t expect to find was the family she’d always wanted or the love of her life.
When Sydney showed up at Muir House, Neil is not excited about another imposter. But Sydney is not like the others and Neil can’t help but be drawn to her.
The Characters in Autumn by the Sea
The Muir family may not have wanted Sydney around, but it was hard not to see how much they loved each other.
Each member of the family had a distinct personality but it was obvious that they were a unit.
It was great to see how they eventually opened up their ranks and made a place for Sydney.
The Themes in Autumn by the Sea
The faith element was faint but readers will be reminded that God has a plan for our lives. Readers will also be reminded that regardless of how it feels God has not forgotten them.
Final Thoughts on Autumn by the Sea
Autumn by the Sea is a complete story but there are loose ends that will hopefully be handled in later books.
The romance between Neil and Sydney began as a friendship and slowly developed into more. Interwoven throughout the story are two mysteries that are decades-old that are affecting the characters in the present.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publisher through NetGalley; a positive review was not required.

About Autumn by the Sea
A captivating new seaside romance brimming with mystery from USA Today bestselling, Christy Award-winning author Melissa Tagg
Abandoned as a toddler, Sydney Rose has spent years wondering who she really is, homesick for a life she’s never lived. When a private investigator crashes into her world, she finds herself heading to a tiny seaside town in Maine to meet a woman named Maggie, who’s searching for the granddaughter she lost decades ago.

But the farm is struggling and strange occurrences have him concerned. Worse, Maggie’s once again caught up in the past, convinced she’s finally found her long-lost granddaughter.
Worried for Maggie, Neil is suspicious of the city girl who shows up at the farm. But there’s something about Sydney that tugs on him, drawing out secrets he never meant to share. While Neil grapples with the future of the farm, Sydney wrestles with a past that’s messier than ever. Together, they’re pulled into a mystery complete with a centuries-old legend, unexpected danger . . . and a love as deep and wild as the sea.
