Bookish Quote: His Perfect Choice

Service should come from the heart, not from the head. That’s why God gives us spiritual gifts—because He knows what the church needs. – His Perfect Choice, Aminata Coote

Are you using your gifts for God?

Please take a minute to actually think about this.

Sometimes, when we serve in the church, we simply fill an empty position or work where there’s a need.

There’s nothing wrong with that—in the short run. But God gave the members of the church the spiritual gifts each local congregation needs.

The best thing we can do for our local church is utilize persons in their areas of giftedness. Only then will we become the church God intended.

Here’s another thing: sometimes, our service comes from a place of obligation.

We serve, not because we’re passionate about the local church and want to use our gifts for God, but because it’s the “right” thing to do.

My friend, God doesn’t need us to do anything for Him. It’s a privilege and an honor to partner with Him in the ministry of the church.

I encourage you this week to take a moment to think about your service. Are you serving from the head or from the heart?
