In Break of Day by Colleen Coble, Annie Pederson’s life looks like it’s finally coming together, but danger still lurks in Rock Harbor, and this time, it’s after her.
So many things happened in Break of Day as Annie, Jon, and Mason drew closer to the truth.
Break of Day is the final installment in the Annie Pederson trilogy and is best read in the series order as there are several threads that pick up from the earlier books.
I enjoyed reading Break of Day, but there were times when I had to take a break just so I could get a breather. This book was intense!
If you’ve read the first books in the series, you’ll enjoy seeing Jon and Annie’s romance blossom as their family got stronger. It was good to finally get answers to questions from the earlier books as Annie narrowed down the players in the deadly game.
Readers of Break of Day will be reminded that life can be scary, but we’re not meant to live in fear. Instead, we’re to boldly use the gifts, talents, and resources God has given us to do the work He’s tasked us with.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publisher through NetGalley; a positive review was not required.
First Line of Break of Day
One stupid kayak. Ella Anderson lay spread-eagled on her back on a tiny spit of land in Lake Superior. – Break of Day, Colleen Coble
So many questions were raised. Who’s Ella, and why is she in Lake Superior? Did she lose her kayak? How?

Favorite Quotes from Break of Day
There were so many powerful quotes in Break of Day. Here are some of my favorites.
“I’m not living my life in fear. When it’s my time, nothing I do will change what God has set in his Book of Life. How many times does the Bible say, ‘Fear not’? Enough times that we know God doesn’t want us to cower in our homes.
“I want to model courage, not cowardice.”
None of us know how many days God has written for our lives. We have to do the job before us and not worry about that.
“There’s room for all of us. Love is like that. It doesn’t matter how many people you love. There is always room for more.”
Good friends were the same as family. Sometimes even better.
