Welcome to Wacky Wednesday!
What is wacky about this Wednesday, you might ask?
It’s where the characters from my books take over my blog and social media accounts so you can get to know them. Happening every Wednesday until launch day (I think…they’re my characters but I don’t control them.)

My sister already told you I was the one who raised her child.
*tilts her chin
It was both a privilege and an honor to raise Jessica. That girl is the most precious gift I’ve ever received.
She may tell you her mother abandoned her, and I supposed that’s true.
*stares into the distance
But you have to understand why Lavender left her with me. My sister was barely able to take care of herself at the time. Having a young, impressionable girl to take care of as well… Well, let’s just say it was a recipe for disaster.
*purses her lips
I’m making excuses. I wanted Jessica to stay with me, and hoped if she stayed, I’d finally get my sister back. When I suggested Lavender leave Jessica with me, I never thought…
*lips tremble
Excuse me.
*rushes off stage
Was It the Right Choice?
Mary is my younger sister. Ever since the moment she could walk, she’s been getting into trouble.
*smiles fondly
My parents insisted that since I was her older sister, I was responsible for her care. They drummed this into my head from the time I was a little girl.
After my parents died…
*huffs out a breath
It had been so long since I’d seen my sister. I hardly even recognized her when she showed up at the house. After she told me about the kind of life she’d been living—in a VW bus, no less—I couldn’t let her continue living that way with Jessica.
*sighs
Maybe if I’d pressed a little harder, Lavender would have stayed too. Or maybe I shouldn’t have said anything and Jessica would have grown up with her mom.
*covers her face with her hands. A moment passes before she drops them and resumes her straight-back posture
Have you ever wondered if you’d done the right thing? Made the right choice? That’s me every day.
If I hadn’t intervened in Jessica and Lavender’s life, my darling girl wouldn’t have grown up thinking her mother had abandoned her. She’d realize she deserves to be loved and wouldn’t push away everyone the second they get too close.
Not Really a Mean Girl
Let’s talk about Jessica. That’s why you’re here, right? To learn more about my niece?
*looks off into the distance
Jessica is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Oh, she hides it well, but under that Mean Girl exterior is a tender heart.
But she can be…
Let’s call it single-minded. Once she gets an idea, she’s not letting it go.
Isn’t that why we’re at this place? Years ago, *waves a hand
I forget how old she was—she got the idea that she should be married to Daniel Hutchinson. I don’t know what she saw in him, but she convinced herself he was the right man for her.
The trouble was, Daniel was not the man for her. Her obsession with Daniel only caused trouble—for both of them.
Meanwhile, Andre has been pining after her since the moment he started noticing girls.
*sighs deeply
Life so rarely runs as smoothly as we’d like it to. But I believe God has His hand in Jessica’s story.
I can’t wait for His Perfect Choice to be released so I can read the full story. The release date is August 25, 2023.

About His Perfect Choice
He’s loved her from a distance, but she’s too blind to see it. Can he prove that he’s the man of her dreams?
Jessica Smith has always prided herself on being in control. But when her vision of being the perfect pastor’s wife falls apart, she’s forced to confront her vulnerability. As she battles weakness and fatigue, she attributes it to a stubborn cold until a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome shakes her world. Determined to overcome the illness, she’s thrown into a challenging journey with her physical therapist, Andre Meyers.
Andre has been in love with Jessica for years but watched her chase after someone who didn’t know she existed. When he’s assigned as her therapist, Andre sees this as a chance to show her how much she means to him. As they work together, they must confront their past and discover that God can use brokenness to create a beautiful ending.
Will they take a chance on each other and find their happily ever after? Find out in this heartwarming tale of hope, faith, and second chances.
