Wacky Wednesdays

Character Takeover: Ruth

Welcome to Wacky Wednesday!

What is wacky about this Wednesday, you might ask?

It’s where the characters from my books take over my blog and social media accounts so you can get to know them. Happening every Wednesday until launch day (I think…they’re my characters but I don’t control them.)

This week, the blog and social media feeds are being taken over by Ruth. Ruth is Gabrielle’s mother-in-law who we meet in His Perfect Family. Let’s turn things over to Ruth.

Introduction

You don’t have to like me to admit I’m right. And I am. Martin and I are in a much better position to take care of Caleb than Gabrielle is.

What child wouldn’t want to grow up in an environment where they can have the best of what life has to offer?

*checks things off on her fingers

The best schools.
Designer clothing.
All the toys they want.
Access to the best coaches to facilitate their hobbies.
A beautiful house to live in and everything their little hearts can desire.

It’s a child’s dream.

Who am I?

*rolls eyes

I don’t know why I need to introduce myself. It’s obvious who I am.

*sighs

Fine.

My name is Ruth Campbell-Wallace. I’m Martin Wallace’s wife. You could even say his better half.

I’m the mother of…

*presses lips firmly together

Our son Maurice is Caleb’s father. After all we’ve been through, the least Gabrielle could do is let us raise our son’s child.

*blinks

What do you mean by you want to know more about me?

A woman like me doesn’t have hobbies. I’m much too busy for that.

I maintain the Wallaces social calendar and let me tell you that’s a full-time job…

One that would not get in the way of me raising my grandson.

*shrugs

Anyway, I plan a lot of events to ensure that people remember who we are. After all, if not for Wallace Industries most of the people in Cinnamon Hill wouldn’t have a job.

I liaise with the other wives to ensure that I’m up-to-date on the latest information.

*gives a close-lipped smile

It wouldn’t do for things to be said about us that are not true, would it?

Damage control is a big part of what I do when I’m spending time with these ladies.

*leans forward

I don’t gossip, you understand? But if someone let an interesting tidbit slip, it would be remiss of me not to remember it for future, er, interactions.

Why Gabrielle Is An Unfit Mother

Why goodness! After Maurice died, she carried on something fierce. You would have thought she was the one who’d been driving the car that crashed into my poor baby.

*shudders

Emotion like that is excessive. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be sad when a loved one dies…

Of course not! I’m not heartless!

But one must still comport themselves with dignity.

*gives a tight-lipped smile

You never know who’s watching or what they will do with the information.

Maurice was my child and I never broke down in public the way Gabrielle did. It was disgraceful. I’m only thankful that no pictures ended up in the newspapers.

*flutters a hand

Anyway, I’m meeting my dear friend in a few minutes. But the book if you want to know the rest of the story.
