Crazy for You Review

Crazy for You by Michelle Sass Aleckson tells the story of newcomer Ronnie and longtime Deep Haven resident Peter Dahlquist.

My Review of Crazy for You

When the book just started, I liked Ronnie, but by the time she had gotten to Deep Haven, I didn’t. She was so brusque and harsh, that while I understood why she acted the way she did, it was hard to like her.  Peter seemed like a pushover and while I understood the position he was in, he needed to learn to say no. But I hoped that maybe the man who couldn’t say no could learn a thing or two from the woman who isn’t afraid to and vice versa.

The Characters in Crazy for You

Crazy for You continues the Deep Haven series and focuses on newly appointed paramedic Ronnie and homegrown boy Peter. While I’ll admit that the two characters complimented each other: she was strong where he was weak and he was diplomatic when she was not, I struggled to like these characters. Even Tiago, Ronnie’s younger brother was difficult to like.

Peter seemed like a really nice guy but he was so concerned with pleasing everyone, I just wanted him to grow a backbone.  It was good to see some of the other Deep Haven characters like Megan and Cole, but much of Crazy for You seemed to focus on what was wrong in the community which kinda ruined the small town togetherness vibe for me.

The Themes in Crazy for You

Crazy for You answers one of the hardest questions that people wrestle with: where is God when things are hard? It’s easy to believe that God turns a blind eye to the bad things that happen every day. God is with us through everything.

I enjoyed watching Ronnie come to the realization that God had always been there with her even in the bad times, but would have loved to see more of the characters’ faith played out on the pages.

Final Thoughts on Crazy for You

This was not my favorite book in the Deep Haven series as it wasn’t until near the end that I began to feel some of that sense of community that makes Deep Haven such a great place to hang out. Crazy for You will remind you that while life may be hard, God is still good and we can trust Him.

Crazy for You is the third book in the Deep Haven series but can be read as a standalone though it does continue the story of the Crisis Response Team that started in Still the One.

I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publishers through JustRead Tours; a positive review was not required. Purchase Crazy for You on Amazon.

About Crazy for You (Deep Haven Collection, #3)

Crazy for You by Michelle Sass Aleckson

She’s doesn’t want any trouble…

Former soldier Veronica “Ronnie” Morales isn’t going to let her kid brother, Tiago, get pulled into the gangs of Minneapolis, so, seeking safety and a fresh start, she heads to sleepy Deep Haven on the north shore of Minnesota. She’s hoping to put down roots as the paramedic for the new Crisis Response Team, but it’s not easy to be the outsider.

He can’t seem to escape it…

It’s also not easy being the guy related to everyone in town. Especially when you’re the holdout vote for a landmark project. Fire Chief Peter Dahlquist might be the loneliest guy in town when both sides of his massive family—the Hatfields and McCoys of Deep Haven—demand that he pick sides. The only one who seems to understand is the newcomer in town…his new, albeit street-tough paramedic.

Can trouble bring them together?

When Tiago finds himself caught up in small-town shenanigans and the town blames Ronnie for tragedy, Peter is forced to pick sides. But this choice just might cost him the home—and the woman—he loves.
