Crossfire, Lynette Eason quote

Crossfire Review

Julianna’s job as a hostage negotiator for the FBI gets complicated when a hostage taker fixated on her. Crossfire by Lynette Eason is the second installation in the Extreme Measures series. Ms. Eason plunges  us into the action from the opening scene. We get a good glimpse of what a typical day for Julianna was while she was in the field while portraying a balanced picture of her life away from work.

I enjoyed this book. Julianna was such a great character: dedicated to her job while also committed to her family. It was interesting to see how the mystery unfolded and there are a couple of twists which kept things interesting.

I enjoyed seeing Julianna’s interaction with her sister and her friends. The relationship that developed between her and Clay was sweet and built on mutual respect. Through the actions of the bad guys, readers see a vivid picture of how unforgiveness can warp you and cause you to do evil things. Others characters show the powerful impact forgiveness can have on a person’s life.

Ultimately, Crossfire showed how the choices a person makes can affect not only the lives of the one making the choice but also those of the people around them.

Readers will be reminded that while we have free will to make choices,  God is ultimately in control. They will also be reminded that though everyone has the freedom to choose, it is God who is in control.

If you enjoy the woman in peril, revenge, or redemption tropes, you’ll enjoy Crossfire.

I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publisher through Just Read Tours and NetGalley; a positive review was not required.

About Crossfire

FBI special agent Julianna Jameson is a top-notch negotiator who has never lost a hostage. Surely she can manage to take care of her much younger sister, Dottie, who showed up unannounced to live with Julianna while she finished her senior year of high school.

A former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Fox left the army after a tragic incident that he can’t get past. Now he’s working as a high school resource officer until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life.

Their paths cross when Julianna is called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay’s sister. Impressed and a bit intimidated by the calm, capable woman with the dark hair and blue eyes, Clay invites her to speak at his school. Dottie’s school.

But as the anniversary of a school shooting from Julianna’s past approaches, it becomes clear that her perfect record is about to be tested and that Dottie is at risk. If Julianna and Clay can’t figure out who’s behind the attacks, more innocent people will die–and Dottie is next in line.

This intense story of revenge and redemption from bestselling author and master of suspense Lynette Eason will have you up all night as you race toward the explosive finish.
