In Expired Vows, by Laura Conaway & Lisa Phillips, we spend time with Trace Bently who’s struggling to put his past behind him. When the EMTs are called in for a hostage situation, Trace comes face to face with a woman from his past.
This book was an adrenaline rush filled with twists and turns. Trace was battling the very real feelings he had following his wife’s death by refusing to deal with them. As we find out when we try to do the same, that rarely works.
Kelsey was passionate about her work as a counselor and was determined to give Trace the help he needed–whether he’d admit to it or not. At the same time, Kelsey battled her own demons.
Both Trace and Kelsey will remind readers that God created us to live in community, we don’t do very well when we cut ourselves off from it.
I enjoyed reading Expired Vows and seeing how these two characters battled the lies they believed about themselves in order to find love and happiness.
Readers of Expired Vows will be reminded that God has a purpose for our pain. That He’s able to create joy out of pain and beauty out of ashes.
