Impending Strike Review

Impending Strike by Sami A. Abrams focuses on the romance between Elite Guardians Lizzie and Charlie.

When Charlie is hurt while on an undercover assignment, the task falls to his partner and friend Lizzie to protect him. But Charlie’s memory loss makes it impossible for him to remember the relationship that exist between him and Lizzie which creates some interesting tension.

The connection between Lizzie and Charlie was evident from the first scene they were in together though they each tried to deny it for different reasons.

I liked Lizzie’s character. She was dedicated to her job and committed to helping those in her care. She had experienced  a lot of loss but was still willing to care about others. Her struggle with trusting God to be God is something we can all identify with.

Charlie is presented in two lights: the person he was before amnesia and the person he was after. Ms. Adams did a great job of explaining the change in his personality and getting the reader to root for the “real” Charlie.

I enjoyed watching the characters come together and the unraveling of the mystery. I also enjoyed the snapshot of their life together after the case had been resolved.

The comeradrie between the members of the Elite Guardians was heartwarming as they seemed more like a family than a team.

Readers will be reminded that regardless of how out of control things may seem, God is ultimately in control. Our job is to trust Him to be God. Readers will also be reminded that forgiveness offers freedom to the person who had been wronged.

I’ve read a couple of the Elite Guardians books and found it interesting to check in on the characters and see them settled and happy while still doing their jobs.

Impending Strike is part of the Elite Guardians Collection but can be read as a stand-alone.

I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publisher through Just Read Tours ; a positive review was not required.

About Impending Strike: An Elite Guardians Novel (Elite Guardians Collection Book 2)

He loves her, but he can’t have her…

Elite Guardian Charlie Lee knows that there is no future with the woman he loves—fellow Guardian Lizzie Tremaine. And he gets it. Lizzie’s a single mom focused on protecting her daughter, and Charlie’s got his own baggage anyway. It’s easier, and safer, to keep things the way they are.

Then, the unthinkable happens. While Charlie is undercover, he’s seriously injured…and his memory of the past four years is gone. But maybe it’s the fresh start he didn’t know he longed for.

And now he’s getting too close…

Lizzie cares for Charlie, but she’s lost all the men she’s ever loved and can’t risk her heart again. Still, she’s determined to protect Charlie, and help him discover who attacked him—and why.

But in the process, she begins to discover an unburdened, impossible-to-resist version of the man she knows. And—along with the details of his attack—Charlie seems to have forgotten their reasons for keeping things platonic. Suddenly, all of their self-imposed rules are gone, and Lizzie needs things to get back to normal, stat.

It’s her heart…or his life.

Problem is, the closer Charlie gets to uncovering his memories, the closer he gets to trouble. What will protecting Charlie cost Lizzie?

Another edge-of-your-seat Elite Guardian thriller!

About Sami A. Abrams

Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.

Sami has finaled 15 times in writing contests, including receiving first place in American Christian Fiction Writer’s Genesis Contest in 2019 and 2020, and Faith Hope and Love’s Touched By Love Awards in 2018.

She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.
