The Nature of Love, Toni Shiloh Quote

The Nature of Love Review

The Nature of Love by Toni Shiloh is Book 3 in the Love in the Spotlight series and features Chris and Erykah.

At the beginning of the novel, Erykah, who we met briefly in A Run at Love when she performed Tuck’s surgery, is isolated and alone. Chris is also experiencing pangs of loneliness as his two best friends head toward marital bliss.

A chance encounter between Chris and Erykah has the hint of something more, but fear of intimacy has both parties backing off, and the two settle for friendship.

I love Chris’s treatment of Erykah as their friendship blossomed. He was her rock and comforter, supporting her when tragedy struck. How he loved her as a friend revealed his true character and made her contemplate a relationship with him.

The Nature of Love deals with themes of grief and acceptance, but Ms. Shiloh handled it with grace and care. Even so, I grieved with the characters and was happy for their lighter moments.

I enjoyed Chris and Erykah’s slow-burn romance, as well as Erykah’s spiritual journey and how her professional and personal relationships blossomed as she fell in love.

It was fun catching up with Lamont and Neveah and Tuck and Piper as they drew Erykah into their friend group. The texts between Chris and his friends were at times hilarious and affirming—everyone should have friends who pray for them and remind them of their identity in Christ.

The Nature of Love will remind readers that regardless of their difficulties, God has not left them alone. When we take the time to look for Him, we’ll see the evidence of God working in our lives.

If you enjoy friends-to-more, single mom, sudden family, women in STEM, found family, later-in-life romance, or swoony heroes, check out The Nature of Love.

I received an advanced reader’s copy as part of the author’s launch team, but a positive review was not required.
