To Bluff A Bride, by Kate Condie, is the second book in the The Bridger Brothers series.
After Ellen’s husband is killed on the Oregon trail, she’s forced to return to the town where her brother-in-law claims she belongs to him. To escape, she proposes a fake marriage to Ben Bridger.
Ellen has many reasons not to get married, but desperate straits do not give her a choice.
I must confess: I detested Cyrus (Ellen’s brother-in-law) and completely understood why she went to such extremes not to marry him.
Ben, on the other hand, was a sweetheart. He was convinced he wouldn’t make a good husband despite all the evidence to the contrary. He took excellent care of Ellen, his family, and anyone who came under his protection.
I enjoyed watching the relationship between Ben and Ellen play out.
Also, as with To Win a Wife, there was the Bridger family dynamics. They are a wonderful family. I enjoyed catching up with them and look forward to seeing the character development in future books.
Readers of To Bluff A Bride will be reminded that a person’s value is not always appreciated by the wrong person. Rather than remaining with the person who doesn’t appreciate you, find people who will.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author as part of her launch team; a positive review was not required.

About Kate Condie
Kate Condie is a speed talker from Oregon. Reading has been part of her life since childhood, where she devoured everything from mysteries to classics, to autobiographies—and of course, romance.
At first, her writing was purely in journal format as she thought writing novels was for the lucky ones. She lives in Utah and spends her days surrounded by mountains with her favorite hunk, their four children, and her laptop.
In her free time, she reads, tries to learn a host of new instruments, binge-watches anything by BBC, or tries to keep up with Lafayette as she sings the Hamilton soundtrack.
